Welcome!
I live in Wigan, which is in the North of England, and work as a press operator/mechanic at a local commercial printers. I have been there for nine years and find the work thouroughly enjoyable. At the moment I am operating Hamada E47 Series presses and Heidelberg MO .
My homelife consists of a house, a wife, and Bruno, my faithful fourlegged companion. Bruno is six years old, seven stone in weight, but still thinks he is a eight week old puppy every morning when he jumps onto the bed. He has a remarkable talent in he pulls the strangest faces when he greets people, and every time I arrive home from work he gives me a big cheesy grin from the top of the stairs. Why not have a look at 'Bruno's homepage!'
Hobbywise I can never seem to get into the normal everyday kind, but I love making things in my lab(garage) which have included radio control aircraft, kit cars, gas turbine engines, propane powered beer can launchers and currently a gas turbine engine made from a used truck turbocharger. I also enjoy sea fishing (mostly in Winter for cod in seriously sub zero temperatures!)
I am fascinated with anything mechanical, I spend a lot of time at junkyards looking for interesting things to buy and take to pieces/repair/convert into something much more dangerous. I love fiddling with engines, machinery, but usualy end up fixing someones washing machine! I am currently studying for a Meng. degree with the Open University. This degree is a masters programme in mechanical engineering. When completed I will have satisfied the educational requirements for the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, of which I am a member, and will become eligible for chartered engineer status. Hopefuly it will open up some new ideas for future projects, as well as open doors for future career development. I have recently bough a Lucas Aerospace gas turbine starter/auxiliary power unit off a ex-airforce Harrier aircraft! click here to have a look!
